Live Cam Views of Mount Washington

The cameras are mounted along the Mount Washington Observatory at the summit of Mount Washington, New Hampshire, the highest point in New England, playing host to the worst weather on earth. Visibility is often only a few feet -- less than one meter. And you'll see far less at night, naturally. But every now and again the view can be decidedly more spectacular.

Much of what makes Mount Washington the place of "the worst weather on earth" is not merely the temperatures reached, with the lowest recorded at -47F in January, 1934 ... but the winds, as well. On April 4th, 1934 wind speeds hit the all-time world record of 231 MPH.

Average annual snowfall is 256 inches, with the seasonal record in the winter of 1968-69, accumulating just over an astonishing 566 inches.
